Come meet me on Hanover at the Pasta shop as I take you on a culinary and historical journey of the beautiful North End. Starting at the Pasta Shop, we will explore some of the best restaurants, coffee shops, pastry shops, and more. Each tour we will visit different Italian staples and learn about what makes this neighborhood so unique.
Hello beautiful people, my name is Maria Delvecchio. I have been working in the North End for over 40 years. I was born in Nusco (Avelino) Italy, and immigrated to East Boston with my mother and twin sister at the age of 12 in 1979.
I was introduced to the North End by my sister in-law Anna to a restaurant called Piccola Venezia on Salem Street. My mom started working there and I started working at Modern Pastry. The neighborhood made me feel like I was back in Italy. Surrounded by Italian speakers and friendly faces. Fast Forward to 1987, I was asked if I wanted to be a part of Frank Depesquale’s first original Trattoria IL Panino. This first restaurant was run by Frank and his wife Debbie. Working at little Panino is where I experienced the passion and love to give our customers an experience like no other by being an authentic Italian establishment.
For small group tours, we can customize an itinerary to emphasize your interests. If you have a special request, send us a message, and we will be sure to get back to you soon.
